Biography
Rebecca is the Assistant Vice President for the Human Research Protection Program. In this role, she works to lead the administrative staff and support the approximately 100 Committee members in achieving the IRB's mission, to facilitate ethical human research. Her work also involves collaboration with other Research Administration offices on projects aimed at improving service to researchers.
Rebecca came to Emory IRB in 2008 as a Team Lead, then became Assistant Director before becoming Director. Previously she worked with the Harvard Medical School, School of Public Health, and University's IRB's on projects that also leveraged her prior work as a programmer for a Naval contractor in Newport, RI. Rebecca holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Math from Smith College and has been a Certified IRB Professional since 2015.

Biography
Carol Corkran has served as a Team Lead Analyst in the Institutional Review Board (IRB) office since 2013. Carol joined the Emory IRB as a Senior Research Protocol Analyst in 2007 after spending three years as a Research Coordinator on the KARMA Project at the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing. Since her early days with the Emory IRB, Carol has specialized in Sociobehavioral Research by supporting researchers at Emory College, Laney Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, Candler School of Theology, the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing, Rollins School of Public Health, Goizueta Business School, and Emory University, School of Medicine.
Carol graduated in 2002 with a Master of Public Health in Behavioral Sciences and Health Education from Emory University. She has been a Certified IRB Professional (CIP) since 2010.

Biography
Shara is the Associate Director and Education & QA Team lead for Institutional Review Board (IRB). She has over a decade of work in the research field. Before joining the IRB, Shara worked as both a Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Research Coordinator in the Emory Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics.
Shara is a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner by training and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2001 as well as a Master's of Science in Nursing from Emory in August 2003. She received her Certified IRB Professional (CIP) certification in 2013.

Biography
Julie Martin joined the Emory IRB as an Assistant Director in March 2019. She oversees reliance and is responsible for developing SOPs, policies and procedures, and other tools and outreach as necessary for the reliance program.
Julie graduated with a master’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Florida, and holds an AA in Nursing from St. Petersburg College in St. Petersburg, Florida. Prior to working at Emory, Julie was an Assistant Director at the Health Informatics Institute at the University of South Florida where she provided regulatory guidance and support and created the OneIRB Coordinating Center which facilitated implementation of single IRBs for NIH funded multi-site research groups. Prior to that, Julie was an Assistant Director in Research Integrity and Compliance at the University of South Florida where she led the IRB as well as the Education and QA/QI Programs. Julie also worked as a research nurse at Connecticut Children’s after years of working as a NICU nurse.
